The Lugan river - right influx of river Seversky Donez. The source of Lugan river is a spring, which one pours from under a railway bank near near Bayrak station. Length of the river - 198 kms. In hills of channel its width reaches 0,5-1,5 m, on the average flow - 10-20 meters. A small river Gurty (length -8,1 kms.) is the first large in-leak (the 12-th kilometer from a source). It starts in place "Large forest". This river is remarkable by a settlement has the same name.

Second lengthwise river is not less known, than Lugan, there is Bahmutka river. The right in-leak of the river Seversky Donez lengthy 88 kms. originates near station Labor in a cavity swamp to north-east from cone-shaped dumps of mine by Rumyanzev. Some sources speak that this river in past was shipping and was a part of a waterway from the Azov sea to northern grounds.

There is even a legend, that somewhere in a plain of the river there is a place, in which one the oddments of a turkish vessel carrying gold and drowned is lays here.

The river Korsun - right influx of the river Krinka, originates from a small pond in Kalininsk district. Length - 25 kms., width of a channel on the average flow - 5-6 meters.

From east to west the Iron Girder bears the waters. Length of the river - 18 kms, width of a channel - 5 meters. The history of our city is intimately connected to an Iron Girder. On its beaches in 17 century the Zaporozhye Cossacks have put up.

There is source of this river in region "The bridge of Nikitovka". On the right on flow opens lake Karernoe, and hardly further - peculiar waterfall, the water in which one has green-emerald tint because of depth and purity. In the basis of a titles of ponds on this river the word - "iron" lies.It means the Iron ponds. It also is connected to our history, because since at one time here Cossacks mined and have used reservoirs of Ferrum. And now is one of favorite vacation place of peoples from Gorlovka.

Are known as well such rivers, as for a Curve Butt end, Broad Girder, Straw, Skotovataya Girder, river Iron and others.

However, despite of abundance of the small rivers, the common landscape of our region is characterized by steppe, water less, densely bluffly pits and girders. The declines of pits and girders are boarded with small forests of a wild type. For the solution of problems of potable water facilities it is necessary to use water of the river Seversky Donez. With this purpose in 1958 the channel Seversky Donez - Donbass was built. Its expansion - 130 kms, throughput capacity in 25 cubes-? per sec.103 km of water flows is opened, in synthetically boarded recess, and last 27 kms - are closed, in tubes.
